iRadio Listener Q: “What make-up was used on Charlie Webb (Debbie from Emmerdale) for the British Soap Awards last week?”

May 23, 2013

Charlie WebbCharlie Webb’s beautifully dramatic make-up look for the British Soap Awards was created by the make-up artist Emily Clarkson. Below are the details of what products Emily used on Charlie, and a step-by-step tutorial of how she used them!

1. Emily first prepped the skin using Embryolisse moisturiser (a favourite of models and make-up artists worldwide, it’s available to buy online)

2. To keep the make-up in place all night, she then applied Shu Uemura priming mousse in Beige. Using a very small amount of MAC Strobe Cream, she carefully placed it on the tops of the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, and over the cupids bow, as it adds “such a beautiful glow under the foundation.”

3. Emily then mixed together two foundations – Illamasqua Rich Liquid foundation, and MAC’s Face and Body, and applied it to the face using a flat brush, before working it into the skin using a round stipple brush.Charlie Webb

4. With the base now ready, she got to work on creating Charlie’s dark smokey eyes. She used Avon’s Supershock Gel Eyeliner “over the whole lower lid up to the socket to create the depth of black that Charley wanted”, before then dusting on some MAC Carbon eyeshadow to enhance the smokiness. She then applied some fake wispy lashes from Ardel to complete the look.Charlie Webb Matthew Wolfenden

5. Returning to the base, Emily mixed a little of MAC’s Face and Body Foundation with some Clarins Instant Light Complexion Perfector, and applied it to the face to help create a fresh radiant complexion.

6. To contour, Emily used a MAC 130 brush to apply a minimal amount of Soleil Tan De Chanel. She then applied a pearl cream colour base“, on the tops of Charlie’s cheekbones. Around the apples of her cheeks, Emily used a “cream colour base in hush to give a subtle blush” (both cream bases used were from MAC).

7. For the lips, Emily mixed together two nude shades from MAC’s Lipmix. She patted the colours into the lips using a brush, and then applied some gloss to stop the lips from drying out.
